What Drives Alucobond Cladding Cost Per Square Meter

Alucobond cladding is priced per project, so we do not publish bands. The number is set by facade geometry, substrate condition, access equipment, panel grade and finish, and project size. Scaffolding, substrate repair and special logistics are not included. Five factors move the number within that band: core grade, finish, geometry, height and access, and project size.

Alucobond cladding cost factors

How much does Alucobond cladding cost per square meter?

The ranges below are real market prices in Israel for 2026, before VAT. They include the panels, the support system, the insulation and the labour. They exclude scaffolding or access equipment, substrate repair before installation, special logistics, engineering design and permits.

A range rather than a single number, because two buildings with the same facade area can land on very different quotes. The sections that follow explain exactly what moves the figure within the band.

What sets the price

We do not publish price bands, because the number changes from project to project. These are the factors that move it most:

  • Facade geometry. The number of openings, corners and folds per m². A large flat elevation costs far less per m² than a detailed one.
  • Substrate condition. On an existing building this is the hardest item to judge remotely, and the one that surprises people in cheap quotations.
  • Access equipment. Standard scaffolding, a suspended platform or rope access. At height this is a significant line of its own.
  • Panel grade and finish. Fire-retardant or mineral core, and a standard finish versus metallic, wood-effect or a custom RAL colour.
  • Project size. A larger area lowers the cost per m² through repetition and installation efficiency.

A binding quotation follows a discovery call and a site visit, in writing and itemised line by line. Book a site visit.

Not included in these bands: scaffolding or rope access (10 to 20 percent of project cost), removal of existing cladding, concrete and rebar repair to the existing wall, engineering design and fire safety consultancy, permits, and VAT.

What pushes the price down, and what pushes it up

  • Down: simple rectangular facade, project above 1,000 m², standard solid colour, easy truck and crane access, continuous programme with no stop-start.
  • Up: complex geometry and deep window reveals, metallic or wood-effect finish, facade under 300 m², city-centre site with road closures, phased work around occupancy.

Why is panel grade the largest single driver?

An A2 mineral core costs more than an FR core at panel level, and the difference is carried into the project quotation. The aluminum skin grade, the PVDF coating quality and the manufacturer also matter. Tier 1 manufacturers with European certification cost meaningfully more than budget alternatives, and come with longer warranties on colour stability.

On a typical project, panels represent 40 to 50 percent of the total facade cost. That is why one decision about core grade moves the whole budget.

Which grade your building requires is a regulatory question, not a budget question. Full detail in Alucobond panel types: PE, FR and A2 and in Israeli fire code 921 for facade cladding.

Finish and color

Standard solid colors are the baseline. Metallic finishes, wood-effect or stone-effect prints and custom colors all carry an uplift. Some finishes can add 20 to 35 percent to the panel cost, especially specialty PVDF effects or anodized aluminum substrates.

A practical tip: clients sometimes save by choosing a slightly less premium finish for back facades that are not visible from the street, and concentrating budget on the public-facing elevations.

Facade geometry and complexity

Simple rectangular facades waste very little material. Complex geometry, lots of openings, curves, angled cuts and folded corners all increase both panel waste and installation hours. A facade with deep window reveals and dozens of cutouts can use 15 to 25 percent more material than its net surface area would suggest.

On a high-end villa with custom architectural detailing, CNC machine time and skilled installation labor often exceed the panel cost. On a simple rectangular office facade, panels dominate.

Installation system

A proper rear ventilated facade uses hidden aluminum profiles, brackets, insulation, vapor membrane and flashings. Cheap "glue and screw" installations on plywood backers cost less initially but compromise both fire safety and long-term durability.

Always ask what installation system is being quoted. A code-compliant ventilated facade with engineered hardware will cost meaningfully more than a basic stick-frame, but it is the only system that performs as the engineering of Alucobond was designed for.

Logistics and project management

Where is the building? How accessible is the site? Are scaffolds or boom lifts required? Is the project phased or continuous? All of these affect labor cost and timeline. A building in central Tel Aviv with restricted street access costs more to clad than the same building in an industrial park.

Project management overhead, supervision, insurance and warranty obligations also belong in the price. A serious contractor builds these into the quote transparently. A suspiciously cheap quote is almost always missing one or more of these elements.

  • Panel grade and brand: 40 to 50 percent of cost
  • Finish and color: up to 35 percent uplift on panels
  • Geometry and waste: 15 to 25 percent material variance
  • Installation system: 25 to 40 percent of cost
  • Logistics, supervision, insurance: 10 to 20 percent of cost

How do you read a cladding quote?

A professional quote separates materials, labour, installation hardware, insulation, scaffolding, insurance and project management, and it names the core grade, the manufacturer and the cavity depth explicitly. Ask for that breakdown. A single lump-sum figure with no detail is a red flag.

Compare quotes line by line. The cheapest number is often the most expensive end result: missing items come back as change orders mid-project, or the contractor saves on specifications nobody sees. The right contractor charges fairly for the work they actually deliver, and that work is documented before you sign.

Eight lines that must appear in the quote

  • Panel manufacturer, series and core grade (FR or A2) with a reference to the EN 13501-1 certificate
  • Colour and finish by manufacturer code or RAL
  • Support system type and cavity depth in millimetres
  • Insulation type and thickness in millimetres
  • Fire stops: where they go and what they are made of
  • Scaffolding or access: included or excluded
  • Substrate repair: what is covered and what will be priced separately
  • Warranty period and exactly what it covers

Key takeaways

  • FR with a rear ventilated facade: a project-specific figure. A2: a project-specific figure. 2026, before VAT.
  • Panels are 40 to 50 percent of cost. The installation system is 25 to 40 percent.
  • Scaffolding and substrate repair are almost never included. Check explicitly.
  • Above 1,000 m² the rate per m² falls. Below 300 m² it rises.
  • A quote with no core grade and no cavity depth is not a quote, it is a number.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Alucobond cladding cost per square meter in Israel?

Alucobond cladding costs a project-specific figure with FR panels and a project-specific figure with A2 panels, including material, labour and a rear ventilated facade system. As of 2026, before VAT. The price excludes scaffolding, substrate repair and special logistics. Above 1,000 m² the rate per m² falls; on small facades with difficult access it rises. The binding quote is issued after a site visit.

What would it cost to clad a villa with 300 m² of facade?

At the FR band of a project-specific figure, a 300 m² facade comes to a project-specific figure before VAT. Scaffolding typically adds 10 to 20 percent, and substrate repair is priced against the findings of the site survey. On a villa with complex geometry, budget for the upper end of the band.

Is a suspiciously cheap quote a bad sign?

Usually yes. The cost floor for a compliant Alucobond installation is well known in the industry. A price meaningfully below it almost always comes from one of three things: a non-compliant panel grade, a timber-and-adhesive substitute for an engineered support system, or omitted supervision, insurance and warranty. Ask exactly where the saving comes from.

How can I reduce cost without compromising quality?

Three approaches that work. First, simplify the facade geometry where the architect allows, which saves 15 to 25 percent of material waste. Second, concentrate the premium finish on visible elevations and use a standard solid colour on rear facades. Third, fix the contract price early so the contractor can plan procurement and scheduling. Do not economise on core grade or on the support system.

Do you give written warranties?

Yes. Every project includes a written warranty on both materials and workmanship, with explicit terms covering panel color fade, system integrity, and labor defects. The warranty is a contractual document, not a marketing claim.
